Formerly known as the Pine Tree State Arboretum; its name was changed to avoid confusion on the part of the public, which often assumed this arboretum was run by the state (it isn't). The arboretum that includes a noted hosta collection, grasslands and woods. The land that includes the Arboretum was once part of the old Augusta Mental Health Institute (AMHI); there are still some remnants of the hog farming done by patients there until the 1940s.
