Located in the Puente Hills in Whittier, and owned by the The Puente Hills Landfill Native Habitat Preservation Authority, Sycamore Canyon Park provides exceptional hiking into beautiful riparian habitat. From street parking on Workman Road, enter an open gate and look for another smaller gate to the left. This leads to a dirt road which travels up the canyon. Keep to the left at all forks in the road. Water runs in the stream during the winter. Many large, old California sycamores, cottonwoods, and coast live oaks, as well as arroyo and black willows line the canyon. The road ends in Dark Canyon, a beautiful and pristine oak woodland that feels isolated and peaceful.

Directions: Sycamore Canyon can be accessed off of Workman Mill Road one half mile north of Beverly Blvd., near Strong Avenue in Whittier. No dogs are allowed.
