In 1997 and 1998, the 404-acre Bath Nature Preserve was purchased. It is a parcel of land consisting of several environmental habitats--wetlands, woodlands, riparian, and old-field habitats.

The Bath Nature Preserve has an entrance on Hickory Farm Lane at 4160 Ira Road. The trailhead was completed in July 2001. It provides parking for twenty cars and six vehicles with horse trailers, a rented two-stall handicapped accessible restroom, hitching post, bike rack, information kiosk and picnic area.

Currently the township has an agreement with the University of Akron for them to use the property for research and study.

In the Bath Nature Preserve the multi-use North Fork Trail (hike and bike) provides access to the public in a way that allows for an experience of varied habitat and terrain while protecting the sensitive and unique areas. This trail not only provides daily access but also provides an education experience. There are also nature and equestrian trails. Sensitive and unique areas remain as is with limited intervention and minimal access to maintain ecological integrity in wetlands and woodlands. The prairie, scrub/shrub, wetland meadows and forest require active management to re-establish integrity and health. These sensitive areas are protected by minimizing access.
