  Bongal Pukhuri (Jorhat যোৰহাট) One of the numerous man-made reservoirs of the Ahom era in Jorhat. Badan Chandra Borphukon (a General of Lower Assam and a traitor who helped the Burmese conquer Assam in 1817) was murdered by Rupsing Bongal. For this Rupsing Bongal was rewarded some money which he spent in digging this tank in 1819-20. People do not use the water of this tank as it was made with the money received for killing a man. The area in and around its vicinity came to be known as Bongal Pukhuri. Bikash Rana Gogoi
