Thurcroft is a pit village near Sheffield. It is the birthplace of Kevin Finnan. Like most other pits in the area, Thurcroft Pit was created in the early twentieth century and wiped away by Margaret Thatcher in the 70s (how evil she was!).
Thurcroft's main historical claim to fame is the fact that in the General Strike of 1926 when only the miners were left to fight on, Thurcroft was the last colliery in the country to capitulate, a spirit which occasionally resurfaces.
