History:

From 1890, when the first coffee farmers settled in the region, the core population began to form. Around 1894 began the construction of the chapel and the first Mass was celebrated on March 25, 1895, considered the date of the founding of the ancient town of Bom Jesus Lord of Palmeiras.
The increasing number of settlers who came to cultivate their lands and the establishment of trading houses and industries drove the development of the region.
The greatest evidence that the region of interest was aroused the arrival of the railroad tracks Araraquara in late 1889, a major factor in development of the municipality.
On September 19, 1895, created the precinct of Bom Jesus das Palmeiras, and May 7, 1897, went to the category of the district, changing the name to Mata, the city of Araraquara. On August 27, 1898, this made the town.
