According to mythological belief, one part of the body of Devi Parvati was fallen on this place. While Lord Shiva was angrily destructing everything on the death of Devi Parvati, taking her dead body on his shoulder, having no other way to manage Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu cut down the dead body to 51 pieces by his weapon called "Sudarshan Chakra". One of the part was fallen at Kamakhya Dham at Neelachal Hills near Guwahati and another part fallen here at this place and since then offering Puja is going on here.
