Built as an upmarket boutique hotel known as Langs in 2000, the owners learnt the hard way that posh hotels just don't work in this part of town. The runaway success of the new Premier Inn inside St Andrew House just across the road more than proves this.
A rebrand to Park Inn failed to stop the rot, and it closed in 2011 and has since been redeveloped into student flats.
