Washago is the village at the north end of Lake Couchiching. It is a railroad junction joining the east, south, north and west-bound CN rail roads.

The main street of Washago is Mississauga Street which runs north from the "T" intersection of County Road, former Highway 169. The main street is the old Highway 11, the original north-south route in Ontario. Washago has the Log Cabin restaurant, a gas station, a fine Home Hardware Store, a combined Liquor/beer store and two grocery stores. Medical services are located in the Hotel Washago. The Severn River (green water)starts here as the outflow of Lakes Simcoe and Couchiching and the Black River flows into the Severn here. There is both Bus service at the Hotel and Train service at the Railroad station. Washago is part of Ramara Township.
