Tateyama City is located on the southern tip of the Boso Peninsula, Chiba Prefecture, and has an annual average temperature of over 16℃(60°F).

Tateyama, with its warm climate, is also a "flower city", with flower fields of poppies, rape blossoms, and stock in full bloom in January.

Also, with our 31.5km (19.5 mile) coastline, and being a Mecca for marine sports, a popular beach destination in summer, and in addition being known as the northern limit for coral, Tateyama is also an "ocean city", with a beautiful underwater world.

Green Tateyama has the prefectural operated "Tateyama Wild Bird Sanctuary", and its forest is designated as one of Japan`s 100 best forests. The area around Heisaura beach has been designated as "One of Japan`s Best 100 Hakushaseisho (white sand and green pines) Beaches", and "One of Japan`s best 100 roads". In the middle ages, Feudal Lord Satomi ruled this area. This area is the stage for Bakin Takizawa`s "Nanso Satomi Hakkenden", and there are many places of historical interest even today related to Lord Satomi, and the romantic story of Hakkenden.
