The Tower, construction beginning in September 1929, completion in June 1931, is 125 feet tall and has a base at 380 feet above sea level that measures 24 square feet.

The Tower was constructed atop Bowman's Hill to commemorate a lookout point for General Washington's troops to watch the banks of the Delaware River for any enemy activity. On a clear day, the view from the Tower encompasses a minimum 14 mile radius of the Delaware River Valley.

The Tower is also located adjacent to the Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve and the surrounding area is the natural habitat for many native plants, trees, animals, and birds.
