This is the church of St. Spyridon Church which was built by the renowned naive artist Michael Kashalos in his home back yard. Construction began in 1969 and was completed in about two years. The church was inaugurated on the 11th of August 1971 by Archimandritis Fotios Constantinides who performed the first church ceremony as well. Kashalos painted the holy icons of the church and despite the fact that some members of the community offered to contribute by offering some of the icons, Kashalos refused to accept because he wanted the church icons to be his own. He was happy to accept other offerings, but wanted the painting of the icons and other religious paintings and representations on the walls to be his own (1). The church remains inaccessible since 1974 following the Turkish occupation of the village of Ashia on 14th of August 1974
