The Borders General Hospital NHS Trust, is located in the heart of the Scottish Borders near Melrose just off the A68. The hospital was opened in 1988, gaining Trust status in 1995. The hospital has created over 1000 jobs for the Borders region and is fully committed to the training and development of its staff. Serving as a community hospital for the central Borders, with a bed capacity of 328 it provides a comprehensive range of acute specialty provisions together with a Day Procedure Unit. In addition there is a 15 place DME Assessment Unit. The trust also has full supporting services including laboratory, pharmacy, physiotherapy and occupational therapy and radiology offering CT and MRI services, the most recent scanner which was added to the hospital was opened by Camilla, The Duchess of Cornwall, as she was patron of the national Osteoporosis Society.
