  • Does anyone remember the time capsule the school buried in 1963 after JFK's assasination?
  • or was it in the following Spring in 1964. I remember we buried a bunch of memorabalia like a Kennedy half dollar and set a date when it would be dug up. I wonder if it is still down there. Hull Elementary, Mr Miller was my 6th grade teacher.
  • I was in the 3rd grade there at the time of the assassination. I don't remember when the time capsule was supposed to be opened though. I remember that I was sitting next to a girl by the name of Debbie Reading when we got the news over the PA system.
  • Yes, I was there and remember seeing the Time Capsule and when the assassination came over the PA. I think I was in 2nd or 3rd grade. I also think the time capsule was planted in 1964. Just shocked to see the school gone on Google Maps/Street View!
  • We often go to the playground that still exists in the back. The whole area is now a green space. I often wondered how this gem of a green space area came to be in Livonia with so many houses around. It makes sense that it was on the land of a former school. I remember hearing of this school too. So sad that so many prior Livonia schools have been closed and continue to close. Any idea where the time capsule was located in proximity to the school that was previously there?
  • I recently (late 2017) learned that Hull had been torn down. I was really surprised. I was in kindergarten the first year the school was open, and was at a school in third grade when the Kennedy assassination was announced. Sounds as if I'm the same vintage as several posters here. My mother said that the radiant floor heating was supposed to be a groovy thing at the time the school opened. A few years after leaving Hull (for nearby St. Maurice Grade School), I went to the school to play tennis against a wall. My first shot was too high, and my only tennis ball landed on the flat roof. That was the end of my tennis career for many years. I wonder how long that tennis ball stayed up there.
  • I attended in 1964- 1968. I wonder if any of my former teachers are alive.. This was an all white school when I went there. My 5th grade teacher, Mr Collins talked all the time of how bad things were in the segregated south.. But there were not black ppl in Livonia at the time.. Rather hypocritical. Blacks were forced to live in inner city Detroit.. I can remember the riots of 67.. I was taken abruptly to Florida in June of 68 after the 5th grade an shortly after the Bobby Kennedy assassination. Florida I went to a racially mixed school and had black classmates for the first time in my life..I experienced the desegregation of the south. It was a hard and painful experience, but one I am glad I went through..
  • I would love to hook up and find the time capsule.. I think we attended at the same time Michelle
