Amphitheatre

Italy / Campania / Scafati /
 theatre, archaeological site, amphitheatre

Pompeii is a ruined Roman city near modern Naples in the Italian region of Campania, in the territory of the commune of Pompei. It was destroyed during a catastrophic eruption of the volcano Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. The volcano buried the city under many feet of ash and it was lost for 1,600 years before its accidental rediscovery. Since then, its excavation has provided an extraordinarily detailed insight into the life of a city at the height of the Roman Empire. Today, it is one of Italy's leading tourist attractions and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Notably, Pink Floyd recorded its live album "Live at Pompeii" (1972) in the stadium.

Well, only two things happened here, the eruption and Pink Floyd. I guess Pink Floyd is more important.

My dad went to Pompeii and brought for me several pieces of the ash created by the eruption of the volcano nearby. Songs like echoes and time by pink floyd could have been wake the volcano for the second time!!!!!! In that case my dad would have..... FLOYD AND FREUD RULE!! Why are the fresco paintings in Pompeii so vulger? My dad was ashamed and decided not to let me visit Pompeii. I never seen any of those paintings in pink floyd videos. old school band never wants to spoil the new generation.

"Echoes", "A Saucerful of Secrets", among others, masterfully and emotionally played to perfection and recorded live in front of an audience of ghosts in an ancient Roman amphitheatre where who knows what kind of entertainment went on at the time. I'm loving every minute of the shivers running down my spine.

Pink Floyd > Eruption. I'm sorry...no not really. It's Pink Floyd dude.

The eruption had happened because the volcano wanted to see Pink Floyd live.
