The Anna P. Mote Elementary School was constructed between 1953 and 1957. At dedication ceremonies on January 17, 1958, the school was named to honor Anna P. Mote, a teacher and principal in the Marshallton School District from 1891 to 1938. In 1981, the school became part of the Red Clay Consolidated School District.
