New Rochelle, New York

New Rochelle is located in Westchester County, NY. It was founded in 1688 and incorporated as a city in 1889. The name derives from it's sister city of La Rochelle in France where many of the area's early European settlers originated from in the late 17th century. Currently it is the seventh largest city in New York State.

  • I don't live very far from here, but I've sadly never visited....great job by everyone who contributed to this entry, New Roc looks like a great city!
  • My grandfather was apparently from there, he always wished that he could go back to see what his old neghborhood was like up until he passed in 2002 shortly after his 80th birthday.
