Bhimashankar Temple Jyotirlinga is situated in the ghat region of the Sahyadri hills in the village of Bhorgiri, 50-km north west of Khed, near Pune in Maharashtra. Bhima Shankar Temple lies on the banks of the river Bhima. Bhimashankar is also the source of the river Bhima, which flows southeast and merges with the Krishna River near Raichur. The other Jyotirlinga shrines in Maharashtra are Tryambakeshwar and Grishneshwar. It may be noted that according to the Shiv Purana the Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga is situated on the Mountain Brahmapur in district Kamrup, Assam.
Temple's daily schedule with the early morning Arti at 4:30 am, then nijarup darshan at 5:00 am, after that regular puja took place at 5:30 am and abhishek starts. Then in afternoon at 12:00 pm naivedya puja is scheduled, after that at 12:30 pm again regular puja and abhishek starts and ends at 3:00 pm for madhyan arti during which no darshan is allowed till 4:00 pm. At evening after 4:00 pm regular darshan starts and darshan is allowed till 9:30 pm. 9:30 pm is the closing time of the temple.
