The Steingasser Gate tower was built between 1507-1534. It has two floors and is 25.8 m high and was taken care of by the stonemasons guild.
It was severely damaged in 1705 by the armies of the Kuruc/Kurutz. During the repairs carried out in 1745 inside the metallic globe of the tower, a document was placed in which a senator of the city, Stephan Hann of Hannenheim mentioned the destruction of the tower and the attack and damage to the city.
The repairs changed the stylistic characteristics of the tower and diminished its defensive role, receiving a baroque style roof and the classic firing holes have been replaced with openings in the shape of turned keyholes for firearms. The entrance to the tower is made through the pedestrian gangway to the east of the tower.
