  • Debre Berhan is a town 130km north of the capital, Addis Ababa. It is more than 500 years since its establishment.
  • Debre Birhan is established around 1433 during regim of King Zerayakob .It is a highland town of about 2800 meter above sea level and surrounded by historical and attractive tourist sites such as Ankober and Menze Guassa ecoturisims where Endemic Birds ,indiginious trees of age more than 300 years ,Rift valley and Red Fox are easily seen .

  • I now D/Birhan town when I was working there (in D/Birhan Zonal Hospital) for about 2 years. The town is not grown as its age of established & as a Zonal town of North Shoa(Amhara Region).By the time I was live there; I observe a great changes. Now it is on going process to grow as 1. The new D/Birhan University opened; new buildings such as the Condominium houses, the ‘Hakim’Gizaw memorial Hospital; the Red cross building, & other buildings are built. 2. The road from the capital city (Addis Ababa) to D/Birhan is under reconstruction. In the near future; I hope it will be one of the largest cities in ETHIOPIA. “Every one has a reason to pray”

  • I learn in Atse Zerayacob junior school and H/Mariam high school. I think the opportunities of growth comes to the historical town of Debre birhan with the opening of Ankober to Awasharba road that links the town to the port of Assab and Djbute.   • I was born and raised in the blessed town of DEBRE BERHAN. Off course i left DB 27 years ago and i am visiting the town at least once a year for SILASSIE. I remember always my happiest and best childe and young years in DB, specially my school's and kebele's friends. Again i remember KIDIST SILASSIE church, Atse Zereyakob square, ABO GEDAM church, my elementary then high schools (Model 2 and Hailemariam Mamo). And i don't forget football teams including DB KENEMA and my teammates. Debre Berhan is not only the historical place but also it is attractive and convenient town for living. Now DB is in change, I hoop in the near future it will be one of the best place in central part of Ethiopia. Thank you and god bless you all.
