Up until very recently there were some impressive concrete foundations and the 2 shafts still to be seen at this old colliery that had closed during the 1921 Miners Strike. The mine never re-opened due to water ingress during the strike and languished for many years to be seen at the side of the road. The Coal Authority have unfortunately now cleared the site including filling and capping the 2 shafts in 2006/2007.
