Site of a number of smaller collieries all mostly closed by the 1930s although reasonably productive in their day. The main 'Brick Pit Colliery', also known as New Engine Colliery, has some impressive engine house remains still to be seen and the 2 shafts were only finally filled and capped in approx 2004.
