The construction date of this building goes back to the late 50s.It became the headquarters of Dubai Municipality offices until 1964, and then the Municipality offices were moved to another building. Due to the importance of this building in the Municipality's history as well as its location amidst the commercial market near the bay, it was repaired, fitted and furnished by the Architectural Heritage Department in compliance to the Municipality management's instructions so as to be a museum dedicated to the history of Dubai Municipality.
In 2006, this museum was opened it included halls, exhibits and documents telling the history of the period during which the Municipality was established, the Municipality managers and the length they held this post, in addition to documents showing their orders and regulations, as well as pictures of official meetings, the Municipality's responsibilities and administrative development, documents displaying the Municipalities general projects, services and other achievements which have been displayed in an artistic manner. The Museum also has an audio-visual show telling the history of the Municipality by use of modern technological methods.
