The root place where Sri Kshetra Vorkady, Kavi Subrahmanya temple originally located nearly 800 years back. It is believed that the temple authorities decided to shift the temple to new place and prayed the lord to show new place and broken a coconut.The half part of broken coconet fell nearly half Kilometer away from the place. It is said that the name 'VORKADY' originated from the word 'ORU GADI'- one half of coconut. After that temple authorities and villegers built new temple at where half part of coconut fallen.
