Air Bangalore Broadcasting Transmitters are located near the City of Doddaballapur. 6x500 KW Super Power Short Wave Broadcasting Transmitters of All India Radios are installed here.

new 500KW short wave am radio transmitters will be supplied while the existing network of ?? transmitters will be updated to incorporate Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) transmission. BBC ( BBC Brown Boveri is now Thomson Broadcast)500 kW shortwave transmitters analogue , with both analogue and DRM


AIR Bengaluru is noted on DRM Vividh Bharti mode today 19 Sept 2013 on 9870 Khz .I heard it while tuning across at 1345 UTC.
This is the new 500 kW tx which was testing on AM mode for a couple of months now.
The normal schedule on this frequency is Vividh Bharati
0055-0435 0900-1200 1245-1740 UTC
This is the 2nd SW station of AIR using DRM mode 6100 Khz Vividh Bharati, the first being from New Delhi.

NEW DRM GENERAL OVERSEA SERVICE

Effective today, All India Radio Bengaluru is carrying three audio channels for it's external service DRM transmissions using new 500 kW Riz transmitter (approx 170 kW in DRM mode).
Other than regular external services, two other services FM Rainbow, Mumbai & Vividh Bharati are being broadcasted on same frequency
New DRM transmissions is monitored from AIR Bengaluru from 19 Jan 2014 as follows:

1000-1100 UTC 17895 Khz English to Australia & NZ
1145-1315 UTC 15795 Khz Chinese
2045-2230 UTC 11620 Khz English to Australia, NZ
2245-0045 UTC 13605 Khz English to NE Asia

These new DRM frequencies are specially announced in at sign on / sign off in the English transmissions.

Look out for any more DRM broadcasts from this station at other timings in External Services of AIR.

  • I am listening to your station now at 13:07 UTC on the island of Maui, Hawaii, USA. Your signal here is S/9 with moderate fading. I'm 12,902 km distant from your transmitter.
  • Some years ago I have heard Vividh Bharati on 10330 kHz / 500kW Broadcasted from Bangalore in the USA regularly but since the Frequency has been Changed on 9870 kHz it is not Possible to listen Vividh Bharati in the States and Canada. Many years ago I have listened AIR´s GEO-Services regularly on 6280 kHz with 500kW Transmitter Power Broadcasted from Bangalore towards Europe in USA and Canada. And now I can listen All India Radio´s English Services called General Overseas Services on 7550 kHz regularly in USA and Canada.
  • Here in the uk since Dec 2015 reception of 11.670mhz is not audible due to a drop in the fot for period 1745-2230 suggest drop 11670 and use 9950 1745-2045 from Bangalore and from 2045-2230 drop drm tests on 7550 and keep 9445 as scheduled at present for the uk.C.J Danpure,uk
