military, radar station
This is the RATSCAT Advanced Measurement System (RAMS) site, the northern of the two test sites that make up the National Radar Cross Section Test Facility (NRTF) (formerly Radar Target Scatter, RATSCAT) test facility. The Mainsite is to the south-southeast in the middle of the flats.
The concrete pad to the south-east covers a lift that raises and lowers a radar target into and out of test position, hiding it from prying eyes. The radar transmitter antenna is to the north-west. Several of these facilities dot the Antelope Valley in southern California.
