Full name: "Raw Material Recovery - Center Ruhr" (RZR, de: Rohstoff-Rückgewinnungs-Zentrum Ruhr)
The waste incineration plant for municipal waste and hazardous waste, has been operating since 1982. Owner - KVR ("the municipal association of the Ruhr area", old name) or RVR ("regional association Ruhr", since 2004). Direct management company - plant operator is AGR mbH with subsidiaries. In 2009, the second stage of the plant was opened, intended for the disposal of commercial waste. The plant consists of 6 incineration lines: these are four grate firing systems for municipal and commercial waste and two rotary combustor for hazardous (predominantly industrial) waste. The plant capacity is up to 700,000 tons of waste per year. Modern multi-stage flue gas cleaning systems make it possible to ensure the environmental safety of the plant. Energy production for 2019 was 260-270 GWh electricity, ~560 GWh district heating to the Ruhr district heating network and 5.5 GWh for neighboring industrial area.
