La Redoute is a fearsome beast of a climb that often decides the Liege-Bastogne-Liege cycling race. The race is known as “La Doyenne” which means the oldest and is known as one of five monuments in the sport (Milan San Remo, Tour of Flanders, Paris-Roubaix and Giro Di Lombardia) Since 1892 throngs have been thrilled by the riders at this race.

Taken by itself, La Redoute is very tough, but taken after 230 clicks on the bike is brutal. This hill will be lined with people 20 deep at least, all going crazy when the peloton arrives. In the past it has been the launching pad for many winning moves and if you’re not near the front at the beginning of this hill you can kiss your chances to win goodbye.
