This temple dedicated to Goddess Cauvery is in Talacauvery, near Bhagamandala. This is the origin of the river Cauvery, which flows in the south easterly direction into the Bay of Bengal. There is a famous temple for the Goddess Cauvery here. This temple was extensively renovated by the end of year 2008.
This is an important place of pilgrimage for South Indians (people from Tamilnadu and Karnataka) who share the bounty of river Cauvery.
The only people that live in Talacauvery are the temple priests with the last name of Achar. You can see four Achar family houses east of the temple. At this time only two houses are occupied during the Tula Sankranthi season. These houses are named Melina Mane, Kelegina Mane, Hosa Mane and the last one Shanthi Dhama.
