Since 2009 the tennis court has also been in use as a full basketball court. Lines have been painted and two professional basketball goals have been installed on both ends ---complete with White House oval insignia logos. Until 2009, the basketball court was just west of here, but the court was small and also posed a security risk by being too close to the fence and having little cover. In the new basketball location the shed buildings, two fences, and many more landscaping trees hide the president from the sidewalk passersby.
