This section of Saskatchewan Crescent was closed in 2007 after large cracks developed in the road surface and in the riverbank slope. Slumping failures of the riverbank is a natural occurrence, and was previously observed in 1999 at the foot of the Broadway bridge.
In April 2009, the provincial government provided funding for several civic projects, including repairs to the riverbank failure. The slope has since been stabilized and the roadway reopened.
