Ground control and downlink site for National Reconnaissance Office and National Security Agency classified satellites. The base's location in the middle of the USA was selected to prevent eavesdropping by Soviet space tracking ships in international waters. The large buildings with powerful air conditioning probably house computers of the ECHELON message screening system. Some of the smaller antennas are downlinks for the USAF's DSP missile-warning satellites.
