Construction of the church was begun in 1869 by Edward Tuckerman Potter in a Gothic, Tudor Revival style. It is the largest Episcopal Church building in the Diocese of Rhode Island.

The church completed in time for Easter 1872. It was made a memorial to Bishop Henshaw and the name was changed to All Saints’ Memorial Church.

One of its focal points is the massive Austin pipe organ.

The stained glass windows were installed in the late 1800s and early 1900s are some of the most majestic and beautiful in the country.

The church was added to the National Historic Register in 1980, National Register of Historic Places #80000083
