Envisioned by the CMI congregation and established in 1956, St. Joseph's College, popularly known as Devagiri College, was formally inaugurated by the then Governor of Madras. With great visionaries at the apex of its administrative hierarchy and eminent scholars on the teaching staff, Devagiri College set a fast pace of development, adding two prestigious Post-graduate Departments and a sports pavilion to it within five years of its inception. With the cream of students from all over Kerala converging to this premier institution and pride of Malabar, the sprawling campus of Devagiri became an enviable confluence of excellence.

First affiliated to the University of Madras and then to the University of Kerala, this college is now under the University of Calicut.

  • Its so sad that my friend Nisham, even after going to abudhabi has failed to devolop a sense of being a human being.After reading his comments above, i strongly believe that good culture and intergrity is inborn and not achievable over a lifetime. Its so disgusting that even after leaving the collge, he could only remember his teachers with those names which makes no sense.Its common to secretly mention these kind of names when you are a part of the college. But, give them some respect atleast after you get the hell out of the institution. If you are still unable to respect them, please leave them alone and dont make a fool out of yourself by introducing your teachers to others in such a cultureless manner. The commerce department in Devagiri is one one of the best in the state. People who were never serious about anyting would never realize the worth. Thanks to all teachers for doing a great job. We will never forget you.
