office building, bank
Charlton Place, Andover. Contains the Group Operations of Lloyds Banking Group as well as some functions for subsidiary companies within the group including Lloyds TSB, the Cheltenham and Gloucester and AMC. Approximately 800 staff work for Lloyds Banking Group in Andover at its two premises, the other being the much smaller Keens House in the centre of the town near Asda.
Charlton Place is split into three main buildings; two administrative blocks called Charlton Place 1 and Charlton Place 2 and a training centre which also includes an accommodation block for staff staying on location when away from home. All three buildings are linked by walkways. There is a large staff restaurant, a coffee bar, multiple small shops selling drinks and snacks, a bar, a fitness centre, sauna, tennis courts, two five-a-side football pitches and an ATM. The premises includes ornamental fountains, gardens and a central courtyard with benches to sit on in the summer.
This building is the former headquarters of TSB plc before it merged with Lloyds Bank in the 1990s.
The River Anton runs along the border of the premises and the property is built on water meadows. It is not unusual to see geese and ducks wandering around the car park and buildings, for this reason cars must be very cautious when driving along the one-way perimeter road (which operates in a clockwise direction).
There is no public access to the building and security is high.
