Hawkesbury Junction (Sutton) Stop Lock 1, North Oxford/Coventry Canal (Bedworth)

Hawkesbury, or Sutton Stop Lock, was built to stop the Oxford Canal losing valuable water to the more recently constructed Coventry Canal. For a time, the two canals ran parallel to each other with no direct connection. The difference in water level is only around six inches.
