castle, ruins, place with historical importance, interesting place
Remains of Llantrisant Castle. This 13th century castle had a very short history, and very little has been written about it. All that remains now is a very overground mound and less than half of one tower. It fell into disuse after only a couple of hundred years, and is probably most notable for being the place of imprisonment and subsequent execution of Edward II.
Plans have been made to excavate the castle; however this has not yet been done.
