The station was opened as the first phase of construction of Butovskaya metro line.

Station design: island platform station located on an elevated viaduct.

Station architect: L.Borzenkov

The station is named after adjutant general and Russian-Turkish war hero Mikhail (Michael) Skobelev (1843-1882).
The row of columns along the platform supports a canopy which protects the station from atmospheric precipitation. There are sound barriers on either side of the platform. The escalators at both ends of the station hall join the platform with vestibules. There is an elevator for the handicapped in the centre of the platform.

Exit to: Admirala Ushakova boulevard and Skobelevskaya street.
