La Experiencia neighborhood was founded on XIX century it first started as a small village where Spanish and French immigrants in their majority found refuge far distant from Guadalajara and an establishment near the confluence of then big Santiago river. Very few inhabitants began being based to the borders of the Huentitán canyon, nevertheless was half-full of the century last in 1851 when was based on the area the textile factory by the business men Sotero Prieto and Manuel Olasagarre, this fabric and cotton factory created a great source of work, as well as the blossoming of a new town inhabited by the same workers.

Also the first mill of the city was seated in La experiencia in the actual well-known area called "El Molino". Later between 1939 and 1950 was built the parish of Our Lady of the refuge (Parroqui de Nuestra del refugio) as well as the small square frames that surrounds the church, the blossoming of the town was in greater part to the work source that the textile factory offered to the town where more of 80% it toiled in this, until its strike at the begining of 1990.
The town was famous for a long time for being the cradle of popular footballsoccer players in clubs of first division of the city, also was famous for its local club that now is belongs to second division: El Club Imperio.

In current times the Experience belongs of the metropolitan zone of Guadalajara as part of the municipality of Zapopan where it ended up enclosing great urban spot to become part from the metropolis, although still conserves the town essence, with its hoisted main street and spotted streets surrounded by large houses of the past century many transformed into local businesses, Bohemian alleys and the temple with their small square and the box are typical of the now "zapopano" neighborhood. The old factory that later would happen to be offices of the new factory was declared cultural and historical patrimony of the nation by the secretaria of culture of Jalisco in the 2004.
