Six columns hold up this monument, an Ancient Greek peristyle
Mayor Daley's tenure has been marked by a growing recognition of the identity and significance of Chicago's neighborhoods. One neighborhood which has seen a great deal of new economic activity in recent years has been Greek Town, just to the west of the Loop along Halsted Ave. In 1998, Greektown received in own "entrance mark," in the form of the "Peristyle temple".
The sculpture is the work of local artist Andy Pappas.
