In 1945 the former Magnolia Hotel became the home of Donaldson Co. a maker of air filters which was bought in 1958 by Fram Corp. and was renamed Canadian Filters Ltd. In 1973 Canadian Filters then owned by Bendix moved to new quarters on Park Avenue East and the William Street factory was occupied by Superior Machine & Tool Ltd.

Superior Machine & Tool started in a private garage in 1945 but soon became an important supplier of tooling. In 1968 the Inshes Avenue business was purchased by Fram Corp. and subsequently moved to the William Street property.

In 2006 the business was closed and the plant was subsequently demolished.
