Nahal Brigade Desert Training Camp

Noar Halutzi Lohem, in English Fighting Pioneer Youth, normally known as Nachal (Hebrew: נח"ל‎, stream) is an Israel Defense Forces infantry brigade. Historically, it refers to a program that combines military service and establishment of new agricultural settlements, often in outlying areas. Later, the program branched out into volunteering and social welfare projects.

The training program of the Nahal Brigade fighter begins at the brigade base in Tel - Arad in the Negev desert just on the edge of the Judean Wildernes. There he goes through basic training (basic training) for 4 months (at the base of river - good) and then advanced training two months long (River base - Iscariot). At the end of advanced training, after a week concludes with a company exercises built in an open area. After a trip to Masada - he is awarded the warrior pin, symbolizing the beginning of immigration battalions operational activities.

Fighters Battalion patrol through a longer training course, the length between one year and two months a year and four months. After completing basic training, advanced training they undergo training counter-terrorism (cruiser) and Schedule (Ahplahah"ne Vahplan"te) and training relating to specific activities ( Plhi"ak - brigade command post, Plas"ar - intelligence, reconnaissance and fighting in enemy territory, Plan"te - Run anti-tank missiles, Plahah"ne.

This base, is located just north of the Arad municipal treatment ponds (which get sewage from the Arad industrial area) has been implicated in very rates of cancer among Israeli military recruits who have been trained there.

Some reports allege that the the overflow from the ponds passes along the wadi (dry riverbed) just below the base.
