Mundaú is 150 km away from Fortaleza, and 20 kilometers from Trairi by asphalt road in good condition, in the west coast of Ceará, Brazil.

Mundaú is considered one of the few lost paradises in Ceará. It has population of around 8000 inhabitants and lives mainly from fishing and maid services. Tourism is begining to develop, creating new lifestyle options. The region has many natural attractions such as coral reefs that shelter the quiet peninsula, mangroves, temporary lagoons, and large dunes along the Rio Mundaú.

The beach is a peninsula of Mundaú sheltered by rocks. With fresh water from a stream that supplies the town, it is a great place for snorkeling and bathing. From 1994 to 2001, more than 30 artificial reefs were installed in various municipalities around the state of Ceará.
