Designed by A.R. Bradner and constructed in 1941, this Streamline Moderne garage was built for the original Buffums Department Store, which was adjacent but has been demolished. The horizontal lines and cylindrical forms at the corner, plus the vintage lettering for the sign "Autoport," reflect the imagery of modern transportation at that period.

  • I remember there was one of those personal "Escalator/Elevator" conveyor belt things that you grab a hold of and step on to take you between the ground floor and upper levels as well as bring you back down. I don't remember what they were officially called but if I find out, I'll try to include a picture.
