Vale Rio Diner (former location)

The Vale Rio Diner is a Paramount, built in 1948.

Based on the original owner's surname (Valerio), the design is unique in its appearance. Unusual disc patterns can be seen on its stainless steel exterior, while the roof (and parking lot) are painted a shocking pink.

Inside, the booths and counter areas resemble typical diner designs. Unlike many diners, however, an addition was added to the rear of the building, with a fancier dining room decor set up therein.

In 2006, it was announced that the property will be developed for a Walgreens and the diner needs to be moved. In early 2008, it was announced that the diner will indeed close and be moved from its longstanding location at Bridge Street and Nutt Road.

  • Correction: The Downingtown Diner, NOT the Vale Rio diner, was featured in the 1958 movie The Blob. However, the "Val" deserves recognition for serving great food since 1948.
