If a former hydraulic pumping station in the East End is not a conventional place to eat, then long live unconventionality. This part art gallery, part restaurant manages to team old machinery, tiles and girders from its industrial days with dangling chandeliers, designer furniture and flickering candles to create a chic urban space. Importantly, the food manages to live up to the setting. A menu of inspired international dishes is distinguished by high-quality ingredients and imaginative combinations. Starters such as potted shrimps or smoked eel and trout rillette precede robust main courses like chargrilled veal chop, Jerusalem artichoke and lemon butter.
