horaihatty village, otherwise called Thoraisal is 12 km away from Udhagamandalam town. It consists of 7 hamlets, namely, 1) Karakkal,2)Melthoraihatty, 3)Kilthoraihatty, 4) Hosahatty, 5)Oormalai, 6) Nellimund and 7) Ulupatti. Sorrounding nearby villages are Ebbanadu, Chinnacoonoor, Kothamudi, Anikorai, Thuneri, etc. It comes under Thuneri Panchayat. Agriculure is their main source of income. Apart from tea cultivation, Potato, garlic, carrot,cabbage, beetroot, beans are major agricultural produce in this area. Another source of income is from Cattle rearing. There are two milk societies functioning in this village which collect milk from the farmers and transport to Main Dairy at Ooty for processing and marketing. Temperate climate is prevailing in this village. The people are very busy throughout the year in their agricultural activities. I am proud of being a son of this evergreen village.
