Saint Adalbert's Cross

On this site was in 1831 on a sand dune the Saint Adalbert Cross. The 8.83m high monument had the inscription (transl.) "Here died bishop St. Adalbert the martyrs death in 997 for the Light of Christianity, Wiepolska 1831." Since October 2nd, 1991 there has been re-enacted a provisional 3-m high wooden cross. This was initiated by the Catholic community of Kaliningrad. The archbishop of Moscow was one of the partioners. Since the 1000th year memorial of his death, there is again a cross with a memorial remembrance plate.
