Bolfanek Lookout Tower

Bolfanek (mispronunciation in Czech Wolfgang) is the lookout tower on the top of Zdar Hill (583 m), a rest of former barocco church of St. Wolfgang, developed in 1725 by Franz Joseph Count of Czernin of Chudenitz. The church was demolished in 1810. Lookout tower is 45 m high and on the gallery leads up 138 steps. Former church fundamentals are noticeable till present. Very nice lookout around the surrounding Chudenice Upland hills and scenery a Hohemian Forrest int the south and west horizon. The Bolfanek tower is a part of extensive manor park of Chudenice Castle Laznicky (means small spa), built-up by the Czernins in their clan origin location. The park is accessible to public, Laznicky Castle was transformed onto Pilsner Urquell trade-unions recreation facility, at present serves as a private hotel.
