  maduwa is the largest island on madu river it has 200 families on board including school, Buddhist temple and hospital its self, sinhala Buddhist people are living on this island.there is one steel bridge from this island which runs to balapitiya town.and as per the records this bridge is the longest bridge in southern part of sri lanka.
